Types of mesothelioma cells
Your doctor or your medical history can make reference to “types of cells” of mesothelioma. This refers to the types of tissue where the cancer developed first. For example, mesothelioma “epithelial” refers to cancer cells that develop in the epithelium, which is the lining of the lungs, heart and abdomen. In contrast, mesothelioma “sarcomatous” is presented in the connective tissues. The term “biphasic” refers to mesothelioma which takes place in two different types of cells. Other cell types of mesothelioma are linfohistiocitoide and Desmoplastic.
